September 27, 2002 * I had a lot of fun this summer at Camp Tadma and I even got to volunteer at Day Camp, but I'm back to school and back to trading. CUB SCOUTS... FYI ... BSA has added eight new belt loops. Cub Scout Sports : Flag Football, Ice Skating, Roller Skating, Snow Ski and Board Sports and for Cub Scout Academics : Astronomy, Collecting, Language and Culture, and Map and Compass. The three requirements for the Collecting Belt Loop are 1. Begin a collection of at least 10 items that all have something in common. Label the items and title your collection. 2. Display your collection at a pack or den meeting. 3. Visit a show or museum that displays different collections. For the Academics Pin, you can choose five of the eleven requirements. I scrolled down a ways and saw a few questions regarding how to classify and find a value for your collections. If nobody has responded yet, here's your answer. For CSPs, there is a book called "An Aid to Collecting CSP's w/ Valuation Guide" which is published every year and can by purchased at www.e-scoutauction.com for $33. You may wish to email them first though as David Franck, the primary editor and distributor, passed away recently. As for OA, there are two different means of classification and valuation. The Bluebook seems to be the most commonly used. The 4th edition is the most recent edition though I am not sure where to get it. The 3rd edition can be purchased from www.streamwood.net for $8 and it has all OA issues up to Spring 2000. The other OA classification is called Arapaho. The Arapaho 2000 edition can also be purchased from streamwood for $10. If anyone has any more questions, please email me and I will try to help you as best as I can. Thanks.

My son atended the national jamboree 2001 and earned the 5 activity patches that surround the jamboree patch. One of these was destroyed in a house fire before they could be sown on his uniform.
